About Lotus

The importance of having a holistic view

Together, as a society and as human beings, we face a variety of social, emotional, economic and ecological challenges.
In recent years much attention has been paid to the intellectual, rational development of human beings. This has brought us much in terms of technology and other “mental” areas of knowledge. On the other hand, many people also feel that something is missing in that approach.
In today’s educational landscape, there is a growing emphasis on nurturing the spiritual and physical aspects of a person, not just the academic performance.
Whether that is in the form of 21st century skills and “soft skills,” “psychology in education,” or the demand for more self-awareness and engaged citizenship.
In addition, the consequences of a predominantly rational development can be seen in a society heavily focused on material wealth and individual successes. This mindset, coupled with an economy focused on continuous growth, often goes at the expense of the natural environment. Moreover, the benefits of this growth are frequently unequally distributed, highlighting the need for a more balanced and inclusive approach to education and societal development.

Need for change

There is a human need for broader development: not only sharpening our minds, but also paying attention to the body, to the heart, to shaping a sustainable and fair economy, to changing our relationship with our social and natural environment.
This view on what is needed for human beings does not come out of the blue. We find our roots in Neohumanism, in which Universal Love is a fundamental value and personal development always goes hand in hand with wanting to contribute to your environment.

Self-awareness as the foundation for change

Self-awareness is essential in the individual, societal and global changes we face. Who am I, what is my role as a human being, where do I stand in the bigger picture? What do I have to offer? What values do I identify with and how do I express them?
A steady foundation in self-awareness provides an anchor in a rapidly changing, demanding society. At the same time it provides tools to grow in your own way and to take your environment with you and ‘lift it up’.
There is also a need for awareness and skills on the moral level (how do I relate to others, how do we treat each other), on the ecological level (how do we deal with our natural environment) and on the economic level (what changes can be made and what are the possibilities to provide for our necessities of life in a sustainable and equal way).

“In every community there is work to be done. In every nation, there are wounds to heal. In every heart there is the power to do it.”

Marianne Williamson

Personal and social growth

With this in mind, our trainings and events focus not only on personal development, but also on the ideas, knowledge and skills needed to create change on a larger scale. The focus is on conscious development, healthy living, a green future, fair economy and creative connection.

Every person has the potential to create change on a small or larger scale. Therefore, we are targeting the widest possible audience, including people who want to renew education, parents concerned about their children’s development and future, young people who want to positively shape their future, and future thinkers within ecology, economics and culture.

Areas of Change

From our view on education and personal social development flows the ambition to offer inspiration, knowledge and skills in the following areas:

Healthy living

Conscious development

Fair economy

Green future

Creative connections

Together you can achieve more!

Collaboration

Lotus works very closely with Zonnelicht, the daycare center and after-school care on our campus, where training has been provided for years on the development of young children in various areas. Lotus was partly born out of the desire to share this knowledge and experience more widely. In addition, warm contacts are maintained with international projects with a related mission.
